How I Became a Fashion Show Producer

It all started with my brothers hand me down shirt that I paired with a baby pink braided belt and a Rainbow Brite tote when I was 6.  I didn’t know what I was doing; I just felt it looked better that way.   My interest in fashion began.

Fast-forward to 1999 when I started a company called A Production (Now Au79 Productions) in Denver.  Denver was no fashion hub at the time but a local designer came to me about producing a show which we invited local press and buyers to. That one show was my launching pad into the world of fashion show production snagging jobs with local boutiques as well as working with the Susan G Komen foundation.  One day, on my weekly magazine voyage to The Tattered Cover, I came across an ad in V magazine for a PR/Production house called MAO PR in NY.  I contacted them immediately and was invited to New York to work with them in September 2001.  I came home after that fashion week, packed a suitcase and made my official move to NYC.  From there I worked With MAO PR for a year, then a brief stint at styling with Patti Wilson from Italian Vogue and ID magazine.  But back to production I went when Kelly Cutrone from Peoples Revolution gave me a call one day. We met and she quickly took me under her wing as an associate producer. I worked with her for 7 years then began working with OW! PR and Production House in NYC.  A few designers I’ve worked on production for are Jeremy Scott, Y-3, Threeasfour with Yoko Ono, Derek Lam, Alexandre Hertchovotich, and Peter Som. I have over 300 NYFW shows under my belt and still counting.  In Denver under AU79 Productions, my clients include Matthew Morris Salon, Charlie Price, Emage Networks, LVMH and 303 Magazine.
